Privacy Policy

Shelanous is run by Shellie Pty Ltd, 154 Rouse St, Port Melbourne VIC 3207, together with our sister restaurant Shelly in Caulfield. This page says what we collect on this website, why, who handles it for us, and how long we keep it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Reservations. Bookings are made on SevenRooms. They hold your name, contact details and booking history under their own policy. Our night calendar only reads how many seats are left.

Enquiries and the waiting list. Your name, email, phone and message are emailed to our team so we can reply. They stay in our mailbox.

Gift vouchers. The buyer's name and email, the recipient's name and email, the line written for the card, the photo added to the card if any, the value and the voucher code. Card details are entered on Stripe's payment page and never reach us; we only learn that a payment succeeded.

Newsletter. Your name and email, only if you sign up. Every email carries an unsubscribe link.

Site analytics. Standard usage data (pages, device, rough location) through Google Analytics and the Meta pixel, where enabled, to see how the site is used and to measure our advertising. You can block these with your browser or an ad blocker.

Why we use it

To take and confirm your booking or order, to send the voucher to the person it is for, to answer you, to send the newsletter you asked for, and to keep the site and the payments safe. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for other businesses' marketing.

Who handles it for us

Stripe (payments), SevenRooms (reservations), Supabase (our voucher records, stored in Australia's region where available), Resend (sending emails), Google Workspace and Google Sheets (our mailbox and the team's voucher register), Vercel (hosting) and Google Analytics and Meta (analytics). Each processes data on our instructions under its own security and privacy terms.

How long we keep it

Voucher records are kept while the voucher is valid (3 years from purchase) and for a year after, for accounting. The photo and the personal line on the card are deleted once the voucher is redeemed or expires. An order that is started and never paid is deleted after 7 days. Enquiry emails are kept as long as we need them to serve you. Newsletter details are removed when you unsubscribe.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or unsubscribe from anything, by writing to info@shelanous.com.au. We answer within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS only, payment details stay with Stripe, our records are behind access controls that only our servers hold, and uploaded photos live in private storage with time limited links. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
